An August family holiday at Boscrowan

We all want something different from a holiday – a complete rest, a change of scenery, a bit of pampering, new experiences, new challenges, peace and quiet………….the list is endless. At Boscrowan we hope to offer all of these and more.

Our younger guests often enjoy joining in with Boscrowan tasks. We thought we’d share with you the activities of two young guests who stayed at Boscrowan for the fourth year this August. The weather was definitely mixed but it certainly didn’t dampen any spirits!

On the first day of their stay it was Emily’s 8th birthday! In keeping with tradition she chose to party in the summerhouse. The  nutella cake was baked and iced  in Peace and Plenty  kitchen (no bought supermarket cakes for theses discerning guests!) and we watched this and a whole feast of treats being marched out to the summerhouse

It was a pretty action packed week for young Oliver and Emily who fed the animals and  collected eggs every afternoon with ever evident enthusiasm

On one particularly wet afternoon I invited them to join me in the soft furnishing workroom where they selected a fabric, cut, pinned and sewed a cushion each! Not sure who had most fun! It might even have been me!

Some extracts from their comments in the Visitors Book after their stay-

‘At Boscrowan you might as well leave your phones at home (but there is wifi) . I absolutely love Boscrowan and can’t wait to come again.’ from  Oliver

‘My favourite bit was the sewing lesson with my brother where we made cushions. I also loved feeding the animals and maybe next year I will be tall enough to feed Molly. I also taught Molly that being carried is good’  from Emily

If you are just wondering at this point as to what species Molly can possibly be………..she’s not a giraffe just a small 16 year old cat whose food is placed on a high shelf in an outbuilding so that she doesn’t have to share it with Jess and Meg!

So you can have fun, whatever the weather – life is what you make it!

At this point I thought I’d just look back through the photo archives and share with you some photos of other young guests who have holidayed here and the new experiences that they enjoyed

I’m afraid we don’t have trampolines, play areas and especially designed activities for children at Boscrowan but what we do offer is to join in with us and our activities and we are more than happy to spare our time to match their enthusiasm.
