Oh the wonderful perfume of old fashioned roses

May and June – probably when our herbaceous borders  are at their finest and the beautiful old fashioned scented climbing rose outside Ring and Thimble which is older than ourselves is looking simply glorious! The cottages have a jug of its fesh blooms indoors and we have the pleasure of seeing it and enjoying its wonderful perfume from outside.

Another Gold award for Boscrowan

How ironic that yesterday, when the Gold medals were being handed out at Chelsea Flower Show,  we learnt that we had been again awarded a Five star Gold award after our annual rigorous inspection by Visit Britain for our self catering cottages.

Five star Gold award is the highest in the grading system and we achieved an overall mark of 97% – we are quite delighted! To achieve Gold the overall percentage needs to be between 87% and 100% –  so we are very content!

Riding out on the cliffs near Lands End

201205201

Had a fabulous ride this afternoon out on the cliffs at Porthgwarra near Lands End.

David and I took our respective mounts – Huckleberry and Gem in the horsebox to Polgigga ( lovely name!) and rode around the cliffs enjoying the bluebells and gorse and further towards the cliff edge the pink sea thrift and the carpets of that beautiful blue tiny flowered Spring squill. The horses seen to know that ride well now – we have done it many times and never tire of its beauty. Unbelievably the coastal footpath was almost deserted – we saw only one group of 4 walkers, yet beautiful warm and sunny weather.

We are so lucky to live in such a wonderful place.
